Flatstock 17, presented by Pitchfork Music Festival and The American Poster Institute, will be held for two days, July 19th and 20th, 2008 at Union Park on the grounds of the Picthfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL.
This event will take place RAIN OR SHINE and takes place OUTDOORS. You must have a Pitchfork Music Fest Pass to get access to the Flatstock show. Pitchfork has sold out every year so far so don't hesitate to get your tickets.

- We are moving to a new location on the music festival grounds.
Instead of our old spot in an island detached from the rest of the park, we will now be located along the eastern portion of Washington Avenue, immediately to the east of the food vendors, and adjacent to the tennis and basketball courts where the record and craft fair are located. We will be arranged in two 320" long rows of tents facing each other, with breaks placed to maximize traffic flows.
Our new spot offers some distinct advantages over the old one: We are located right at one of the two main entrances, so a portion of entering traffic will be funneled directly through Flatstock. We should be much more "in the action" than before, closer to one of the main stages and other vendors, than our previous area. Our presence will be much more obvious than before, when it sometimes took the casual browser a little while to figure out that we were there. Traffic should be heavier.
Fine details of the new arrangement are still being worked out but meanwhile anyone with questions about the changes vis-a-vis last year should not hesitate to ask me.

Hi Flatstock 17 people,

Flatstock is coming together quickly. This is the last call for brochure images: TIFF or JPG file, CMYK, 4 inches on the long side. Include your studio name as you would like it to appear, and whether it should include or omit your address and phone #. If you have not sent one yet, please send it now, to geoff@thedecoderring.com.

Passes-
Please confirm that the address you listed when registering is OK for receiving your bracelets by mail. There will probably be separate bracelets for each day, including Friday night, when there will be no Flatstock, just music.
If they should be sent elsewhere, please send me your address. If you don't trust the mail, there will be a window of time Friday afternoon when your bracelets can be picked up at Crosshair, located two blocks from Union Park. If you would prefer NOT to have your passes mailed to you, please tell me ASAP.

This is a reminder that single booths come with daily admission for TWO people total.
Double booths come with daily admission for FOUR people total. Any more than that are responsible for their own admission.

Many of you, especially those with doubles, will not actually need your full number of passes. If this means you, please consider donating one or more sets of passes for use by our API volunteers. Think of the hard work they do, and how essential that is to a successful Flatstock for all. If you can spare a pass, rather than getting your cousin's BFF into Pitchfork, kick it over to our volunteers. If you can, get in touch. We need more than we've got.

Please make them now so we can actually use them!
Ship to the same address. 10-15 in a tube is perfect. Handbills are great too. Send them as soon as possible so we can start building the myth, out on the street.

Location-
We're in a new spot this year, having traded places with the DJ stage. Instead of our old spot on the island at the back of the park, the Flatstock tents will be set up along the eastern portion of Washington Ave. We will be in two long facing rows, with breaks for traffic, on pavement instead of parkland. What our new spot lacks in grass and trees, it should make up for in traffic. We are much more 'in the action now, closer to the other vendors, food, beer trucks, and one of the main stages. One end of the Flatstock gauntlet will be located at one of two main entrances to the Pitchfork Festival, so a portion of entering traffic should feed right into Flatstock. At the other end will be the food, beer, and atms, etc; things everyone needs.
